My School Days Class 5 English chapter summary with questions and answers

Summary:

My School Days is a nostalgic story by the author about his early school life at Ballygunge Government High School. He recalls being admitted after solving some questions and sums. The school had a huge hall used for occasions like Saraswathi puja, Prize distribution and plays and movies. A Shakespearean play “The Merchant of Venice” was also performed there by foreign actors Greenberg and Salim. The author fondly remembers his teachers, especially B.D Roy who taught him English and the rules of pronunciation. He explained that the pronunciation of “the” depends on whether the word begins with vowel or consonant. Bhattacharya sir, known for his excellent Bengali handwriting. The author also became Ashubabu’s favourite because he could draw well, Ashubabu was the drawing teacher. Ashubabu organized a unique event called “Music Drawing” where there would have a blackboard and coloured pencil, a student would sing a song and other one would draw on the blackboard trying to capture the essence of the song by lines and. After ten years, the author revisits the school for a student reunit event. Everything seemed smaller than he remembered, because he was five feet and six inches tall when he left school but now he grown about to six and half a feet realizing how much he had grown. He ends by saying that looking back at those joyful moments is truly a pleasure.
